One particular toothpaste advertisement( the one in which there's a little boy trying to decide what candy to buy).. made me think.. life these days is so full of choices and options. some inconsequential-like what candy to buy...you can always go buy some more.. there are some others, like for eg. what clothes to buy, which are a little more diifficult, but still it's ok to take a wrong decision. .but when it comes to decisions like what career to pursue or which guy to marry..they are well, let's say, not easy to change!
Its the plethora of options available for everything and the fear of "what if i make a mistake" which make us reconsider every decision we take and make this 'decision-making' thing so horrible.
thousands of decisions from the moment i wake up-what to wear, what to do, and now what to blog aout..it freaks me out that most of my time gets wasted on decideing what to do..
There's no problem if u can prioritise these things. like for example, if u want to go out with your friends, and u have to study for some exam, u can decide what to do..if you're sincere n good u'll study. otherwise u can go out n have fun and then study the whole night!
but what can anyone do when two things have an equal priority and have to be done right now? its tough deciding, right? i heard this interesting thing about 'Buridan's ass'.
Buridan's ass is the common name for a paradox which states that an entirely rational ass, when placed between two stacks of hay of equal size and taste will starve to death because it cannot decide which one to start eating from.( from wikipedia)
Well, its better to make your choice( good or bad) and act on it rather than to reamin frozen in doubt and be an ass. the best thing is to go by your instincts and your past experience while making your decisions.
Whatever the outcome may be, dont ever regret the decisions you made and face them, because this way, whatever yur decision might be, atleast u're not bening an ass!!

choosing a career...
Choosing a career
a pretty difficult thing to do..unless you're one of those lucky souls who've always known what they wanted.
There are just so many options to choose from.. so many things u need to learn about those options , and about yourself before making that choice.. that helping people choose their career has become a career in itself.
As for me, i've chosen a different vocation almost every month of life till now.
As a kid, i wanted to become a scientist. actually i always got top grades in science in school and it seemed like the most logical thing to do.:-).Also, we had these lessons, about madam Curie,Albert Einstein, CV Raman and loads of other scientists, and i found them totally inspiring.
Science took a backseat when History became very interesting. The tales about the ancient civilizations were so enigmatic and enchanting..and i wanted to become an archeologist (it was at that time that the movie 'The mummy' was made, and i really thought i had finally discovered the purpose of my life..to discover some ancient city the world had never set eyes on!
and there were many others.. journalism, poetry, space research.....
Finally, after having discarded all those interesting options, there are two options in front of me now ..i'm doing my engineering in Information and Technology, so i can either continue in this field, or do my MBA and enter the field of business.
all i have to do now is to make up my mind and make sure it doesn't change by next month or so, so that i can focus on having a happy and a very succesful career.. Because a space-walker or an entrepreneur, i've always wanted to be the BEST!!
